Members of the area will meet Thursday, April 18th at 7pm at City Hall for the last of 3 scheduled core team sessions to discuss economic development in the Groton SD Community. From this core team, 6 members will be chosen to serve on the Groton Development Corporation. Individuals are encouraged to attend the meeting or reach out to City Hall at 605-397-8422 if they would like to join this process.

Mike Olson, our city’s code enforcement officer, will be mailing out violation notices today and should be received sometime this week. If you receive a notice and have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Mike directly at 605-216-3679.

Below are details on tonight's alert... Groton garbage routes are back to normal, effective immediately. Thank you for your cooperation in preserving our streets during spring thaw. Also Spring Cleanup will be held April 27-May 3. Please take your items to the City Shop or call City Hall at 605-397-8422 for your items to be picked up.

City employees worked this afternoon at the Groton Legion setting up to host the 2024 SDML District 6 Meeting. Almost 5 dozen individuals from McPherson, Edmunds, Faulk, Spink, and Brown counties will be in attendance. What a great opportunity to showcase our city! We are thankful to the Groton Legion for allowing us to utilize their facility and grateful to the Groton Chamber for donating tumblers for attendees. Thank you to local businesses who donated items for our door prizes as well!

2024 Spring Cleanup will be held from April 27th-May 3rd. Bring anything you wish to dispose of to the City Shop or pickup can be arranged by calling City Hall at 605-397-8422.

Applicants must be a United States citizen, have a high school diploma or GED certificate, and possess a valid driver's license. Applicants must be able to acquire a commercial driver's license and the necessary water and wastewater certifications within one (1) year of employment. The Groton City Council has hired Mike Olson with OCCS to begin code enforcement services. Next week, he will be traveling in a grey/silver GMC Acadia recording these violations, so if you see him in your area, do not be alarmed.
